About the Chef
I am a 24 years old. I graduated in 2006 with a BA in English from the Stony Brook University. I attempted to become a magazine writer but wound up at a local newspaper. I wasn’t enjoying what I wrote about and was really stretching myself when writing so much so quickly every week when I didn’t really care about any of it. I realised I really wanted to write about food and my love of pastries and cakes. I asked the newspaper if I could review restaurants or write about food and was told no. To relieve stress I wound up baking for my boyfriends restaurant. I found I enjoyed making the desserts and I had a knack for it. So under the encouragement of my boyfriend I went to culinary school. I graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC in 2008 with a degree in Career Pastry.
Currently I’m the pastry chef and co-owner of a small Italian restaurant and pizzeria and starting my own Cake business called Pixie Cakes. I’m also currently starting a food blog, Tasty Dishes, where I go eat and review the meals at local eateries. I vow that due to the bias I might give to other pizza or Italian food not to review any in the Long Island/NYC area. However this gives me many other foods to review and devour.
So I hope you enjoy reading my food review blog, Tasty Dishes; or my cake blog Pixie Cakes, which follows the cakes and desserts I create for my new business.
